Laura Keller - Strollathon
Last year, Cure Rett Iowa launched its first Strollathon hoping to raise $10,000 for research. They exceeded their goal and then some, raising over $89,000! Over 200 Iowans were in attendance, with sponsors from all over the state.
This Saturday, May 5th, the Strollathon will be held at the DMACC Culinary Institute in Ankeny where participants will stroll around the waterway. Music, a silent auction, and food will follow. Laura Keller, one of our medically fragile members will be participating on Team Smile. If you would like to stroll with Laura, donate, or give to the cause click the link below. Join us from 10am-2pm, rain or shine.
Rett Syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females. Rett Syndrome becomes apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including loss of speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and over half lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.
