Melissa Burnett-Larkins

What brought you to Mainstream?

I grew up in Ames and always heard great things about Mainstream as an organization. After finishing school at Iowa State I worked for a different social service agency in Ames but wanted more opportunity and excitement in my job – Mainstream was a perfect fit!

What is your favorite thing about work? 

I love coming into work and having the opportunity to do something new and different each day! I also love seeing the members’ smiling faces every morning, they help make my day every day!

How do you spend your time outside of work? 

I enjoy spending with my son and my boyfriend, and our dog and three cats. I’m a bit of a homebody and enjoy playing games at home and browsing Pinterest. 

What is something that employees may not know about you? 

I love interior design and enjoy decorating our home but I’m also pretty frugal – I love a good thrift store!

Favorite food: Homemade mashed potatoes and gravy

Favorite song or music: I have a wide variety of music I enjoy but I especially like EDM and anything with a good beat.
