Mainstream Living

Edward Morris

What brought you to Mainstream?
I had been living in Ames and working in Marshalltown for a year and desired to move to Ames full time.  I had some experience in human services and decided to give it a try.  It's honestly one of tne of the best decisions I have ever made.

What is your favorite thing about work?
Without a doubt the people I have met.  The members we serve, their families and the co-workers I have been privileged to work alongside are many of the best people I have met I met due to the various places I have worked for Mainstream in the last 11 years or so.

How do you spend your time outside of work?
Spending my time with my wife, four dogs and ex-Center pet Chilly the chinchilla.  I also read books voraciously and play Dungeons and Dragons, (with a group I met through Mainstream). I also am just about to graduate with a Masters in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.

What is something that employees may not know about you?
I grew up in the community theater and have done musicals and Shakespeare.  I love the theater!  For my money, "Lil' Shop of Horrors" is the most underappreciated musical out there and "Death of a Salesman" is the best play in Western English.  Arthur Miller is an American Shakespeare.

Favorite color: How the Atlantic ocean looks after a storm.

Favorite food: Cheeseburgers

Favorite song or music: Pretty much anything by Led Zeppelin or vintage Black Sabbath.  Zep rules and Black Sabbath invented heavy metal.
