HCBS Hourly Services
Mainstream Living provides hourly services under the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program. Our hourly members are typically highly independent individuals who live in their own homes, but need some assistance with activities of daily living to remain independent. These activities often include things such as grocery shopping, meal planning, and/or learning cooking skills; medical appointments; budgeting; keeping a clean home; and socialization.
When working with individuals on an hourly basis, teaching instead of doing is essential. For example, helping a member to recognize when the floor needs swept, but not showing them how to sweep. Additionally, staff often work on softer skills such as: coping with stress; what to do if a problem at work arises; or talking about social skills relating to family or significant others.
