What brought you to Mainstream Living?
I had a friend (Shawn) way back in the late 80s who repeatedly told me I should work for Mainstream. "You have the right kind of personality for the job" was how she put it. I didn't apply until four years later, long after she was gone but thankfully Barb (HR) remembered her and thought highly of her. I was hired almost on the spot. Shawn was right. The job seems to suit me.
What is your favorite thing about work?
The members. I find this to be very satisfying in a way that other jobs, like pumping gas, can't compare. When I first started, the flexible hours and working 24 hr shifts really fit my need to have weekends free for rocking and rolling. Now, that I work M-F "9 to 5" style, it's still pretty satisfying.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I spend my time tending chickens, playing music, running, playing music, camping, playing music, baking bread, planning for vacation that includes running, camping and playing music. I occasionally play disc golf, fold origami and knit and at the moment am obsessed with building a teardrop camper.
What is something employees may not know about you?
I regularly play fiddle for barn dances two or three times a month.
